REFRIGERATED CONTAINER USE
Plants and flowers
Triton Temperature-Controlled Containers can create the ideal environment for highly perishable or fragile goods such as flowers and live plants.

Storing plants and flowers

The Triton range of Refrigerated Containers can help advance live plants' growth and make cut flowers last longer.

Reliable cold storage space that helps businesses grow

Plants and flowers can wilt rapidly, especially during the hot summer months, compromising product quality and potentially causing financial loss. Storing stock in a cold environment can slow down the rate of deterioration and extend shelf life. While many businesses in this industry have access to specialist facilities with moisture and temperature control, some require more space to accommodate additional orders during peak seasons, expand inventory to include floristry with specific environmental requirements, or need access to mobile storage facilities for events and festivals. Triton Refrigerated Containers provide a cost-effective solution to help businesses access additional cold storage space without financially committing to build new facilities.

Designed to extend the shelf life of perishable goods, Triton Domestic Refrigerated Containers are some of the most energy-efficient models currently available. Our units are hard-wearing, mobile and secure, with temperature ranges from -35°C to +30°C. In addition, we can equip containers with a remote monitoring system that allows the internal unit temperature of the unit to be monitored from almost any location worldwide.

Some tips for storing flowers and plants
  • Before loading goods, sanitize the unit and ensure it is dry, clean and odor free.
  • Research and set the optimum temperature for the specific flower species you wish to store before loading.
  • Place flowers inside the unit quickly when they arrive onsite.
  • Before loading, remove any damaged, wilted or dead stock.
  • Check stock for diseases/pests and remove any infected flowers and plants to avoid contamination.
  • To extend the shelf-life of cut flowers, re-cut their stems.
  • Ensure plants and flowers do not hang over pallets.
  • Position flowers and plants carefully inside the unit, protecting delicate plants and cut flowers from damage.
  • Place larger plants at the back to allow air to reach the cargo evenly.
