Achieve optimum temperature control
- Ensure the Refrigerated Container is clean, odor free and set at the optimal temperature for the goods you intend to store inside.
- Temperature variations can compromise the condition of stored goods, exposing them to moisture and condensation and potentially leaving them susceptible to mold or bacteria. To avoid this issue, ensure Refrigerated Containers and pallets are clean and dry before use.
- When selecting the optimum temperature for goods, always consider relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Do not pre-cool Refrigerated Containers, as when you open the doors to load goods, the warmer outside air can cause condensation.
- Always set the desired internal temperature before use and ensure it is stable before loading products.
- Always check for and remove any damaged items when storing perishable goods such as fruit, vegetables or flowers, as this can compromise the quality of other stored produce.
- Never store items on the roof, against the front of the container or underneath the machinery.
- Ensure stock does not hang over pallets.
- Ensure goods are loaded at the same temperature as the unit is set.
- Do not load goods previously stored at a higher temperature than the Refrigerated Containers, set point temperature.
- To help maintain the unit's set temperature, load goods quickly and efficiently to avoid keeping the unit doors open for long periods.
- Avoid creating cold or hot air pockets that could compromise goods by positioning your items evenly inside the unit, allowing the cold air to reach your entire cargo evenly.
- When loading a unit, ensure there is ample space around goods to provide sufficient airflow. For example, always allow room for air to move between the roof and the top of the boxes, and never stack items floor to ceiling.
- To avoid spoilage do not load goods too closely to the unit's walls as this may restrict air flow.
- Leave sufficient space between the unit doors and the stacked goods to provide unrestricted air circulation.
